Chapter 472 - 224: Is He Drunk? Director Zhang Calls in Person_2
"No problem, I just need to borrow some paper and a pen from you."
Li Jingsheng readily agreed.
He roughly outlined his diagnostic approach.
"I strongly recommend the patient to have a pelvic X-ray as soon as possible, and if possible, a chest CT or MRI."
"The chest has already been examined once and confirmed to be an infection, and medication is being used for anti-infection treatment."
Dr. Tan Shuilin wanted to roll his eyes after hearing that.
Getting a chest CT, let alone an MRI, is not something you can just do on a whim.
For a struggling family, a chest CT costing over 200 yuan is quite expensive.
And an MRI is even more out of the question; the patient’s family would never agree.
Moreover, the patient has been hospitalized for almost four days, and there hasn’t been any significant improvement. Trust in the doctors at the Second Hospital is eroding.
He could smell a whiff of alcohol when Li Jingsheng spoke, and strongly suspected that this orthopedic doctor had drunk too much and came to the hospital in the middle of the night just to show off.
"Let me leave my phone number too! I’m off tomorrow, so if you have any questions when reporting to the senior doctor, feel free to call me anytime."
Li Jingsheng is a man who does things thoroughly.
After thinking it over, he wrote down his private phone number at the end.
"Sorry for the trouble, Dr. Tan, goodbye!"
Li Jingsheng had diagnosed both difficult cases, and finally felt a bit relieved.
Since it was already 1 AM, it wasn’t easy to catch a taxi on the road.
He didn’t even consider those outside the hospital entrance.
They would charge fifty yuan for a distance that normally costs ten yuan. It’s less than three kilometers, which would only be about a thirty-minute walk.
Luckily, a regular VW Bora slowed down beside him.
"Need a ride?"
The driver was a big brother, around 37 or 38 years old.
"How much to the Old Street of South City?"
"Ten yuan, is that okay?"
"Big brother, it’s usually eight yuan by taxi."
Li Jingsheng opened the car door and got in.
"Eight yuan it is, but as you said, that’s the usual rate. Just look at the time now! Consider the extra two yuan a tip to buy me some cigarettes!"
"Haha, I see your point, big brother."
Li Jingsheng happened to have some change and pulled out a ten-yuan bill.
His current stable daily income exceeded ten thousand yuan, and the issues with the storefront were successfully resolved. Furthermore, after moving to a new location, everything was quite steady. Naturally, he wouldn’t fuss over two yuan.
"Ah, making money is tough nowadays! I used to be a white-collar worker at a big company, worked my way up to supervisor, never earning less than ten thousand a month, and at my peak, almost thirty thousand. Last year the company restructured, and just like that, I got kicked out. Damn capitalists are ruthless. I fought for the company for years, and even if they had reduced my salary, it would’ve been fine, but they just fired me. It’s disheartening, isn’t it?"
The big brother seemed eager to find someone to share his troubles with, pouring out his unfortunate experiences to Li Jingsheng.
"Didn’t they compensate you at all?"
"Compensate my ass! The bosses nowadays look for every excuse to nitpick and fine you. In the last month, I even ended up owing the company 8 yuan. You think I could stay there?"
"So you resigned voluntarily?"
"Yeah, I took my payslip and slammed it in the boss’s face, telling them I quit. For that, I even ended up paying three thousand in medical expenses."
This driver was quite bold indeed.
That slap on the boss’s face must’ve been heavy-handed.
"Young man, as someone who’s been through it, let me give you a piece of advice: save money while you’re young and don’t take on too much debt. You never know if you’ll still get that high income next month. I learned this the hard way; now I can only make a living driving for ride-hailing services. With the mortgage, renovation loans, and car loan, I owe over eighteen thousand a month. Thankfully, I sold that BMW X1 last month, so that’s one less loan."
Paying almost twenty thousand a month in loans, this big brother is certainly something.
Making three thousand a month wasn’t always achievable for him. After taxes, he’d be left with only around twenty-six thousand.
Then, with the minimum social security contributions, he’d have to pay over six hundred.
Plus, with health insurance and such, he’d end up with about twenty-five thousand in hand.
If he could maintain this income level every month, there’d be no problem.
Otherwise, unless his wife had a high enough income to fill that gap.
"Why buy a BMW if you already owe on a mortgage and renovation loans?"
Li Jingsheng asked.
"For face, you know! Back then, I thought, I’m at least a company supervisor, part of middle management. Driving an entry-level car wouldn’t look right. So I gritted my teeth and took out a loan to buy a BMW. It’s all a sad story now; let me tell you, never get a loan for a car, it’s all just pitfalls. After paying on it for over a year, I couldn’t hold on any longer and sold that BMW last month. In the end, I still ended up paying an extra two thousand or so.
The car dealer took pity on me and saw the car was still in good condition, so he let it go."
Even your own father would get skinned alive by a second-hand car dealer; they’d definitely lowball as much as possible when buying!
Indeed, getting a car loan is full of pitfalls.
It’d be even worse if you dealt with a shady credit company.
Li Jingsheng has also experienced days of debt, memories too painful to recall. He wouldn’t dream of getting a luxury car loan just to show off.
He’d never do such a foolish thing.
After the driver dropped him off, he gave him the ten yuan fare.
Watching the driver brother drive away, Li Jingsheng shook his head. Life is full of ups and downs, but getting through them is what matters.
He had risen from the depths to his current achievements in less than three months.
